one like from the book that is puzzling is "the first time I found you guys cooner showed up unannounced." This is puzzling because it never talks about it in the book. when I read this line I didn't know what to think. This shows how she is putting everything together. This line also makes it seem more like it makes you think more and like you're in the book. the puzzling feel of the line makes the book more interesting. the book is like this a lot but this line stood out because it helped put the book together and show how she was remembering her past.
"8 hours and counting,"dad reminded him. i believe that conner wants to keep Anna alive but will kill her if necessary. i think this sentence is important because Anna's dad who isn't really her dad was there to pertect her and kept nagging even though that could have got him shot. although that didn't matter to him as long as he could keep what he knew as his little girl safe.
A part in the book that was puzzling  is when at the end she found out her parents were dead but it is hard to trust that when they said Sura was dead but she was not actually dead. I think that her parents aren't dead just because the Branch keeps so many secrets and tells so many lies that it is hard to trust them or anyone. That is why I think that her parents are still alive and that the branch either has them or they faked there death and have been on the run since the insident at the O'Brien house.
When the branch had all the boys but Nick and Anna and they go and try to save them it was kind of hard to understand because they kill people and you dont really know whats going on so you just like reread it over again to make sure you got it all right because there is so much going on at one time. But after you re-read it a couple times you get that Conner is dead and riley is hurt and they all escape and live happily ever after for what we know so far in the first book cant wait to read the second one and find out what happens next.

In the first half of the book the boys escape. and connor and riley find them when they go and hide. When they finally ditch them they are able to go and find a cabin in michigan. when they hide the branch finds them and they have to run
In the first half of Altered Sam, Trev, Cas, Nick escape the lab when connor tries to take them and Anna goes with them to stay safe and away from Connor. They left and went to a safe house address that her Dad gave to her. When they got there they found a note connecting Sura Turner to Sam. They also found a UV light an immodestly left after a police officer showed up looking for Ms. Turner.
Then they headed to a hotel and Sam had Anna search his tattoo for clues with the UV light. They found coordinates to a cemetery where they found a grave of on of Sam's aliases. They dug it up to find a deed to the house in Michigan. Where they stayed for a while to find clues that decoded into a phone number.

That was Anna what she thought mom Sura Turner, and she remembered nothing about Anna so she thought her memory was wiped. Shortly after she arrived Riley came for the boys and ended up capturing Cas and shooting Sura dead.

In the first half of the book the boys were locked away but anna and sam were very close .So was anna and trev were close to but some stuff happens at the end of the book that goes more in depth and but back to the first half. They didnt know what was gonna happen but riley and conner showed up unexpected and said he was taking the boys but they were smart and found a way not to get taken. A big thing happened and they all broke out and people got shot encluding annas dad. But the boys took anna and everything was alright until the second half you will have to find out for you self what happens next.

The most interesting thing that has happened so far is when the Sam had Anna take the UV light they found at the safe house to the tattoo on his back. In the tattoo she found a message that said Rose cemetery. Then they traveled to Rose cemetery in Lancaster Ohio. In the cemetery they found a headstone with the name of one of Sam's aliases on it. In the grave they found a deed to a house. They traveled to the house and found that it was in a small town so now they’ve all decide to stay there to keep safe

The most interesting part is when Conner and Riley tried to go get the boys from the lab but it back fired and the boys ended up escaping and they haven't found them yet. Sam the main leader they are really smart so they have been getting drink with like straws in them and they agave all the straws to Sam and he blocked the whole that put all the gas air that made them fall asleep so they could take them and so then he got a gun from one of the workers and he started to shoot everybody then Annas dad the one who raised the boys they shot him in the leg and so then sam and the boys took Anna and now they are on the run and noone has tried to get them so far i am excited to read what happens next.

The most exciting part in the story so far is, when they break free from the lab and take Anna with them. Because her dad said not to leave her there. And he told her to promise to never come back. So she agreed to disappear with the 4 boys and never return. After she had realized what she got herself into she was having second thoughts but she decided to go through with it and stay with the boys to make sure she stayed safe. In this part of the book there was a lot of excitement and killing.
The most exciting thing in the book has been, when they found that the house was empty. This has been the most exciting part because, the book had a lot of action and there was a fight and gun shots. In the fight sam and a police man got into a fight and sam hit him with a chair. While this happened Nick about gave away their cover. Trev and Cas had no idea what was happening so it made it seem more like it was a scary moment. The book just got a lot more intense while this happened and you didn't know what was going to happen.

The setting affects the mood because the lab in the basement is kind of creepy and weird when you start out reading the book because it adds in a lot of mystery I think since Anna the main character doesn't know a lot about the lab, how long it has been there, why her dad didn't tell her about the lab. I think it also adds a lot of drama when she sneeks down in the lab because she doesn’t want to get caught by her dad for going down there without authorization from him or having Nick(one of the boys in the lab) tell her dad she went down in the lab.

well there are alot of setting but just one of the settings well in the car it is a little creppy because like there is one girl in a car full of boys. she is just stiiting there and she just dosent know what to think. She has her mothers journal and Sam asked what it was and she told him. But like they just put her in  this car and they all have guns and that would be kind of scary because she is kind of scared to do something wrong because they could just easily kill her when they want to so she is kind of like a slave to them in my perspective.

effect of mood by setting.

The setting affects the mood because… The setting in a way shows how the boys feel. Because they are locked away in the basement/lab and can’t leave the room for any reason. The basement is the main setting of the story. Otherwise it is the house in general. At least until the boys break free. The basement is where everything takes place. The test, the charts, recording data, how much they improve, where they get fed. Also where Connor and riley visit to see if the boys have improved, and everything else that happens so far. This takes place all throughout day and night.
The setting affects the mood because, it is in a lab so it put this creepy feeling in it. When there in the lab the story feels like there is something always going to happen and that there could be a surprise any time. The lab in the story holds these boys that you don't know all about so they give off this feeling that the main character is in danger. When they're in there living room and they are sitting it makes the story feel more homey. They are in a country home so it makes the home feel more protected and peaceful
